PEI, Day 11

Well, we weren't up with the chickens, but we did spend time with them this morning. We went over to the farmyard and helped the Robinsons gather eggs in the chicken coop -- with the occasional duck egg thrown in for good measure. There were also geese, rabbits, sheep, kittens, horses, calves, cows, and three dogs. We also got the tour of the barn and the farmhouse, and discussed homeschooling strategy with Mrs. Robinson.

After lunch, the boys and I saddled up and went biking on the Confederation Trail, which passes by close to the farm. It's great for the kids to be able to ride their bikes to their heart's content without any traffic to be concerned about. The three of us biked all the way in to Mt. Stewart, about 5 km. There, we visited the Hillsborough River Visitors Centre and Museum -- where we cooled off with ice cream and root beer before touring the museum. It was quite interesting, with lots of info about animals, stuffed birds, historical artifacts, and so on. When we had finished looking around, it was time to do the 5 km back to the farm, arriving just in time for the 5:00 pm milking. That was interesting!
