PEI, Day 11

All good things must come to an end... even a stay on PEI. We headed out after breakfast, with one last stop for some shopping along the way before going back across the Confederation Bridge. Once back in New Brunswick, we carried out our plan to stop at historic Fort Beausejour on the way home. I had been there many times with school field trips as a kid, but the rest of the family had never been. The ruins of the star-shaped fort, built by the French in 1751, are a great place to explore, from the grassy hills to the underground bunkers and on-site museum. The Parks Canada staff gave out "scavenger hunt" sheets to the kids, who got an official stamp for finding everything on the sheet.

Another stop in Moncton for supper and buying school supplies, then back home to Minto and the last couple of days of holidays over the weekend. It was great to see some neat places, enjoy time with one another, and visit with extended family.
