On the last page of the classic novel, "Charlotte's Web," author E.B. White observed “It is not often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer.” Adam Blumer is both a very close friend and a good writer, whose first novel will be published by Kregel in March. Adam was a society brother at BJU, where we also took classes together in novel writing and creative writing, and he was best man at my wedding. We remain good friends and kindred spirits, and for this reason alone I would shamelessly plug his first book.
However, as an avid reader, and a writer and editor in a variety of roles, I would recommend this book because its author is a good writer. I have had the privilege of reading draft versions of the book as a reviewer, and this is writing that is gripping, realistic, and meaningful (in contrast to much of current Christian fiction). For all those looking for a good read in 2009, I recommend you make plans to pick up a copy of "Fatal Illusions."
